  • Shoplifting Following an increase in recorded shoplifting offences and some good positive work from the team, the ward panel were keen to maintain the work by adding it as one of the priorities. It has been discussed as a ward priority at every ward panel since and the community concern survey highlights that shoplifting is a priority for residents of the wardShirley North team · set 24 Sept 2026What they're doing →
  • Ward Priority: Community Reassurance and Visible Policing Residents have highlighted concerns regarding a lack of visible policing in areas of Shirley North that do not traditionally experience high levels of crime or anti-social behaviour. Whilst policing resources are often directed towards identified hotspot locations, it is important that all parts of the ward receive regular police engagement and reassurance patrols to maintain public confidence, deter criminality and strengthen community relationships. The ward panel agreed on the priority to be an increase to police visibility and community engagement across all areas of Shirley North, ensuring residents feel reassured, connected to local policing and confident in reporting concerns.Shirley North team · set 24 Sept 2026What they're doing →
  • Shirley North ward priority Drug related ASB Drug related anti-social behaviour has been identified as a key concern within the Parkfields and Freshfields areas of Shirley North. Reports from residents highlight groups congregating within and around the park, particularly during late afternoons, early evenings and at weekends, resulting in concerns around suspected drug use, drug dealing, associated nuisance behaviour and the impact on community safety.Shirley North team · set 24 Sept 2026What they're doing →
  • "Cuckooing" is defined as the criminal exploitation of vulnerable people, involving the use of their homes as a base for criminal activities, through intimidation, or in exchange for drugs. The impact of persons being cuckooed can be extremely harmful, not just to those directly involved, but to the wider community, through increased drug use/supply and ASB.St Mary Cray team · set 27 Sept 2026What they're doing →
  • Star Lane and its environs are known as a hot spot for a number of issues namely drug use/supply and associated ASB. The area is also known for the offences of going equipped, vehicle interference and theft of/from motor vehicles.St Mary Cray team · set 27 Sept 2026What they're doing →
  • Shoplifting offences account for the largest proportion of all crime recorded on the ward. The Nugent Retail Park in SMC is known as a hotpot for shoplifting offences and is a significant crime generator. With a large number of retail outlets, the area is frequented by prolific, priority offenders, known to police to be drug dependent who often offend to fund their addiction. Items stolen include cosmetics, meat, alcohol and certain medium to high value clothing. The area is also known for persons approaching shoppers, asking for money in the street, or when standing at cashpoints. They can be verbally aggressive with members of the public who decline to give them money. These crimes and ASB place additional demand on local policing and discourages members of the public from shopping at the location, which in turn has a negative effect upon trade.St Mary Cray team · set 27 Sept 2026What they're doing →
